Seven years have passed after the prequel "Hanamachi Monogatari" story. "Hanakage" takes place in the Meiji Era in Japan. The main character, Kirishima Iori, is one of the most popular prostitutes in the male x male red-light district Hanabishi, located in the town of Hanamachi. Iori originally came from a prestigious family of Samurai. However, his father has accumulated a high sum of debt and committed suicide. In order to protect his mother, Iori chose the path of being a prostitute.Though Iori worked as a lowly prostitute, he has not lost his pride. He was often blunt and impolite to his patrons, which got him into trouble with the owner Tatsumi. "No matter how inferior I've fallen, pride is the only thing I would never lose!"
